As we close out 2009 this month, U.S. Soccer would like to offer special recognition to all of our Official Bar Partners and the local fans for their continued support during the final stretch of 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying. The Official U.S. Soccer Bars have been consistent supporters of the U.S. Men’s National Team and have played host to a total of 570 official viewing parties in 2009 for fans across the country. Fans in Columbus packed Claddagh Irish Pub for a two-day celebration in February as the Men’s National Team beat Mexico 2-0. Supporters in Chicago frequented Fado Irish Pub, Small Bar, and The Globe Pub in early April to witness another national team victory while the team competed against Trinidad and Tobago. New York City based fans lined up outside Nevada Smith’s for hours on Oct. 10 to claim their space to watch the Men’s National Team clinch a spot in the 2010 FIFA World Cup after a 3-2 victory against Honduras. Amongst our official members, ten locations have emerged as fan favorites during the Best of Voting Series. Fans can continue to vote for their favorite Official U.S. Soccer Bar until Dec. 13. Thank you Official Bars and U.S. Soccer Fans for making this a great year! |
