Tickets are priced at $20 (VIP), $16 (sideline), $12 (end zone) and can be purchased by calling the Miami Fusion at 1-888/FUSION4 or 954/473-0927. The USA-Norway game will be followed at 5:00 p.m. by the annual Women's College All-Star Match, featuring the top seniors from the 1999 season. The USA last played at Lockhart Stadium on Jan. 30, 1999, defeating Portugal, 6-0, a match in which Michelle Akers scored the 100th international goal of her career.
Norway remains the only team in the world with an all-time winning record against the USA and is one of just three teams (China and Germany being the others) to defeat the U.S on home soil during the 1990s. In the most recent meeting between the two teams, the Americans defeated the 1995 Women's World Cup champions, 2-1, at the Algarve Cup in Portugal last March, but are 10-11-1 all-time against the Scandinavian power. Norway finished fourth at the 1999 Women's World Cup, its lowest placement ever in a world championship following a second-place at the 1991 Women's World Cup, a first-place in 1995 and a bronze medal at the 1996 Olympics.
The U.S. women's game will be part of a whirlwind of soccer activity in Ft. Lauderdale featuring a heretofore unseen concentration of talent, as the top three U.S. National Teams from both the men's and women's sides converge on South Florida. Media events featuring both U.S. Men and Women's National Team players will be announced in January.
Head Coach Bruce Arena's Men's National Team will be training for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, beginning Feb. 12 in Miami. The U.S. Men's Olympic Team and U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team will be conducting training camps while playing exhibitions against the Major League Soccer teams in the midst of their Spring Training. The U-23s are also scheduled for a match against the full Men's national Team.
The U.S. Under-21 Women's National Team will also conduct their first camp of the year, which includes matches against both College All-Star Teams. In addition, the Under-19 Girl's Olympic Development Inter-Regional Tournament will be held Feb. 3, 4 & 5, which will also feature the U.S. Under-18 Women's National Team.
