to win on the road this past weekend, have jumped into a share of first
place in the Western Division. In other Saturday night action, Clint
Mathis netted a goal and assist to lead the MetroStars to a 2-0 victory
over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday night at Giants Stadium. The
MetroStars (5-1-1, 16 pts.) are arguably the hottest team in the league,
having won four straight. Mathis leads MLS with seven goals and 18
points. The New England Revolution ended their winless slide Saturday
night, surprising the Chicago Fire with a 2-1 overtime victory at
Foxboro Stadium. Second-half substitute Matt Okoh netted the
game-winner, recording the Revolution's first points in the 2001
campaign. New England earned a victory for the first time in seven
matches. Ariel Graziani, Jason Kreis and Richard Farrer all had a goal
and an assist as Dallas routed Columbus 4-0 at the Cotton Bowl on
Saturday night. With the victory, the Burn jump into second place in the
Central Division. John Spencer scored two goals on penalty kicks as
Colorado downed Tampa Bay 2-1. The Scotsman has four goals and 10 points
in his first five MLS games.
