Houston Dynamo Make Their Mark During the First Academy Games for the Club

On September 19th, 2009, Houston Dynamo kicked off their first Academy games at the University of Houston Carl Lewis Complex. The U-15/16 game and U-17/18 Academy games flanked the Houston Dynamo First Team game that evening.

On Sept. 19th, 2009, Houston Dynamo kicked off their first Academy games at the University of Houston Carl Lewis Complex.  The U-15/16 game and U-17/18 Academy games flanked the Houston Dynamo First Team game that evening. 

Texas Rush SC started the game with a quick goal by Kevin Alvarenga in the second minute of play. However, the Dynamo U-15/16 team walked away with their first win of the Academy season with goals by Isaiah Nji and Eric Sanchez in the 53rd and 80th minute, respectively.  In the final game of the evening, goals by Sebastian Ibeagha and Abe Matamoros helped the U-17/18 Dynamo prevail with a 2-0 win.

James Clarkson, Director of Coaching for the Houston Dynamo commented on the games as “an outstanding environment and advertisement for the Academy Program”.  He added that the possibility of hosting future games in the stadium is something the Dynamo will strive to accomplish this season
