July 6, 2006
Columbus Crew (MLS) at Michigan Bucks (PDL)
Stony Creek High School, Rochester Hills, Mich.
Wednesday, July 12, 7:30 p.m. ET
The Michigan Bucks are no strangers to hosting MLS teams in the Open Cup. In 2000 and 2003, the Bucks hosted the New England Revolution and the New York Metrostars, winning 1-0 and losing 4-0, respectively. Former Bucks’ star and U-20 MNT member Knox Cameron, now a member of the Crew, will make his return against the PDL side that he led for two years. These two teams met earlier this year in an exhibition game with the Crew handling the Bucks 4-1. The Crew has a well balanced attack with 11 different players scoring throughout the MLS season, but no true goal scorer has emerged on the Crew roster. The Bucks’ confidence has risen after knocking off two professional teams already in this Open Cup and averaging three goals in their past four league matches. The Buck's hope their recent success in both league play and the Open Cup, along with a rowdy home crowd will be enough to overcome MLS power, Columbus Crew.
