The tie left head coach Tony Lepore’s men tied with Colombia with four points, but Colombia advanced with a greater goal differential.
Goalkeeper Abraham Romero kept the U.S. in the match when a penalty was called against the United States. Jhon Miranda stepped up for the penalty, which Romero saved but the kick was ordered to be retaken due to encroachment. Romero made the save on the second attempt and followed it up with a point-blank save on the rebound.
