The U.S. Under-17 '87 Men's National Team finished off their weekend in Greensboro, N.C., with a 3-0 victory over the Greensboro Soccer Club on Saturday afternoon in front of a record attendance of 1,581 at McPherson Stadium. The U.S. got goals from Gabriel Farfan, Cesar Nunez and Eric Avila.
It was the second win in two days for the U.S. Under-17s as they had defeated Wake Forest 2-1 a day earlier. In their first match in Greensboro, the U.S. Under-17s fell to the University of North Carolina-Greensboro 2-0.
The U.S. scored in the 22nd minute as Gabriel Farfan received a ball from Neven Subotic and buried the U-17's first shot on goal. Nine minutes later, Cesar Nunez was fed by Eric Avila for the second goal of the match. Avila got the final goal in the 48th minute, ripping his shot into the upper left corner of the goal.
U.S. goalkeeper Matt Walker came up with three big saves during the match to get the shutout as the U.S. dominated the majority of play.
