The U.S. team has not lost a match in regulation time since November of 2004.

The Women’s Nike Friendlies will be the first event of its kind for youth women’s players, and is modeled after the annual tournament for youth men staged in Bradenton, Fla. The U.S. Under-15 Girl’s National Team will play in the U-16 age group while the Under-16 Girl’s National Team and Under-17 Women’s National Team will play in the U-18 age group. Each team will play three games in an environment which stresses quality soccer and player development over wins and losses. Tournament standings are not kept during the competition.
The 24 club teams in the tournament represent 14 different clubs which are some of the most well-known and successful girls clubs in the United States, having combined for scores of state, regional and national championships. Six clubs have multiple teams in the Friendlies. The Colorado Rush (U-16, U-18), Real Colorado (U-17, U-18), the Dallas Texans (U-17 and U-18) and Irvine (Calif.) Strikers (U-16 and U-17) have two teams each, while Slammers FC (Newport Beach, Calif.) and Surf SC (San Diego) have teams in all three age groups.
All of the matches featuring U.S. teams will be played on Field 1, the field closest to the stadium. The U.S. U-17 Women’s National Team, coached in this tournament by U-20 WNT head coach Tim Schulz, will play Surf SC at 10 a.m. on Sept. 28 in the day’s opening premier match.
