U.S. U-23 Women's National Team to Play South Korea Twice at The Home Depot Center After Training Camp

The U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team will come together for its first training camp of 2010 from Jan. 13-20 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Head coach Bill Irwin has called in 24 players to the camp.

The U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team will come together for its first training camp of 2010 from Jan. 13-20 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Head coach Bill Irwin has called in 24 players to the camp, which will overlap four days on the front end with the U.S. U-18 WNT training camp and three days on the back end with the U.S. WNT training camp. Players called into the U-23s in 2010 must have been born on or after Jan. 1, 1987. Of the 24 players named to the roster, four play for WPS clubs in defenders Allison Falk and Nikki Krzysik of the expansion Philadelphia Independence, midfielder Allie Long from the Washington Freedom and outside back Elise Weber from St. Louis Athletica. Irwin also named seven WPS draft eligible seniors, 11 college juniors and two sophomores. Veteran youth national team goalkeeper Kelsey Davis, even at 5-foot-10, comes into the camp as the shortest of the three netminders as Irwin called up a pair of six-footers in Kristin Arnold from Texas A&M and Natalie Kulla from Marquette. Ten players named to the roster attended the U-23s December camp at The HDC. The week will include two games against the senior South Korean Women’s National Team, which is training in Southern California for three weeks. Irwin’s squad will face the Koreans on Saturday, Jan. 16 and on Monday, Jan. 18. Both games are at 3 p.m. at The HDC.
