U.S. U-17 MNT Prepares to Face Cuba in Second Qualifying Match

The U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team will look for their second victory of the 2005 CONCACAF Under-17 Group A Qualifying Tournament after defeating El Salvador 3-0 in their opening match on Tuesday when they take on Cuba on Thursday (April 14). The U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team attained its goal of earning a berth to the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey. Now the squad looks to maintain its winning ways in the semifinals of the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship when it faces Cuba at 6 p.m. ET on Friday, March 1, at Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla, Mexico. The U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team started off the 2012 CONCACAF U-20 Women’s Championship on a high note defeating Guatemala 6-0 in the team’s first Group B match. Forward Lindsey Horan scored a hat trick in the group opener, with Julie Johnston, Katie Stengel and Cari Roccaro adding one goal apiece. The U.S. next faces Cuba on Sunday, March 3, at 5 p.m. ET. In their first trip to Havana in 61 years, the U.S. Men’s National Team defeated Cuba, 1-0, to move into first place in Group 1 in the Semifinal Round of FIFA World Cup qualifying. Clint Dempsey provided the game-winner with an opportunistic strike in the 40th minute to give the U.S. the three valuable points.
