The United States will host the 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup from July 6-24 in seven different venues, CONCACAF announced on Wednesday. The eighth edition of the tournament features a 25 games to played at Qwest Field in Seattle, Wa., The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas, and Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., the Orange Bowl in Miami, Fla., Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass., and the Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles.

Miami FC Forward Abe Thompson Named USSF D-2 Player of the Month for September

U.S. Soccer announced today that Miami FC forward Abe Thompson was voted the USSF Division-2 Professional League Player of the Month for September. Thompson scored six goals over the course of the month, including a hat trick in the club’s fourth game of the month.

The U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team downed the University of Miami by a 3-0 score during its week-long training camp in Sunrise, Fla. that ended on April 16. The Mewis sisters, Kristen and Samantha, each tallied once, with Kristen assisting on Samantha’s goal, while Rachel Nunzzolese tallied the final goal, finishing a rebound of her own shot. The U-17s out-shot Miami 14-3.
