U.S. U-20s Advance to 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship with 1-0 Victory Over El Salvador

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Friday, November 15, 2002) - A 10-man U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team clinched a spot in the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship next year in the United Arab Emirates with a hard-fought 1-0 victory tonight over El Salvador at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, S.C. The lone U.S. goal came on a Bobby Convey corner kick in the 85th minute that was inadvertently headed into the goal by El Salvadoran defender Alexander Escobar.
