Men’s National Team Proposal Comparison

Jan. 15, 2005

The previous collective bargaining agreement and the proposals exchanged by U.S. Soccer and the Players Association all provide a compensation structure with different appearance fees, win bonuses and tie bonuses based on the type of competition (Friendly matches, World Cup Qualifiers, U.S. Cup, Gold Cup, Copa America and the World Cup) and level of opponent (based on FIFA rankings and whether the opponent is a USSF geographical rival). What follows is a breakdown of how players were: (a) compensated under the previous agreement; (b) would be compensated under U.S. Soccer’s proposal and (c) would be compensated under the PA’s latest proposal.
