U.S. Women Defeat Brazil 2-0 in Olympics Behind Hamm & Wambach Goals

THESSALONIKI, Greece (August 14, 2004) – After a rough first half minutes in which Brazil owned the majority of possession and created several great scoring chances, the U.S. Women’s National Team recovered from a rough first half to down Brazil 2-0 in its second match of Group G today at Kaftanzolglio Stadium. The striking combo of Mia Hamm and Abby Wambach once again provided the offense for the U.S., with Hamm converting a penalty kick in the 58th minute and Wambach adding another in the 78th minute off a great individual effort.
