U.S. Defender Jonathan Spector To Have Hip Surgery

June 2, 2008

A hip injury has forced U.S. Men’s National Team defender Jonathan Spector to withdraw from Bob Bradley's team ahead of the team’s match against Spain on Wednesday. Spector has been diagnosed with a torn labrum that has failed to respond to treatment and has traveled to Los Angeles to consult with U.S. team doctor Michael Gerhardt. Surgery is likely to be required, which would sideline the 22-year-old defender for three to six months.
