Brandi Chastain Suffers Fracture of Third Metatarsal in Right Foot

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003) - U.S. defender Brandi Chastain suffered a fracture of the 3rd metatarsal bone in her right foot during the first half of the USA’s 3-1 victory in its opening game of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2003. Cat Reddick replaced Chastain at halftime and following the match Chastain had an X-ray on her foot at the Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington confirming the small fracture.
