U.S. Soccer Wire: Tarpley, Chalupny Join U.S. in Kansas City

Oct. 20, 2003

U.S. head coach April Heinrichs has swapped two North Carolina Tar Heels for one on the roster that will face Italy on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. CT at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City (live on ESPN). Defender Cat Reddick, who played so well in place of the injured Brandi Chastain during the Women's World Cup, will not be on the roster as she catches up in classes missed during the tournament, but midfielder Lori Chalupny (Kah-lup-knee) and forward Lindsay Tarpley, both members of the USA's 2002 U-19 World Championship team were called up. The two sophomores have played major roles in UNC's success so far as the Tar Heels have rolled over the competition and currently sit at No. 1 in the nation at 16-0-0 heading into their final regular season matches next weekend.
