U.S. Women Defeat Japan 2-1 to Open 2011 Algarve Cup in Portugal

The U.S. Women's National Team opened the Algarve Cup with a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Japan on Wednesday. Goals from forward Amy Rodriguez and midfielder Megan Rapinoe in the first half were enough for the USA, who held on to their lead with some tough defending throughout the match.
