11 Questions with Abby Wambach

In 2003, Abby Wambach was a young forward trying to earn her chops on the world’s stage. She did that and more, leading the USA in scoring at the 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup, including the lone goal in the quarterfinal match that knocked Norway out of the tournament. Now, Wambach is a team leader and one of the best forwards in the world with 74 goals in 93 games. Wambach took some time out from preparing for the USA’s upcoming match against Japan (7 p.m. PT live on ussoccer.com’s MatchACCESS) to answer 11 questions for ussoccer.com, ranging from her goal scoring prowess, to the upcoming Women’s World Cup, to her goal scoring celebrations.
