U.S. Soccer Wire: U-20s to Begin World Youth Championships

U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team head coach Thomas Rongen announced last week that 14-year-old Freddy Adu will replace injured San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Arturo Alvarez on the 20-player roster that will compete in the FIFA World Youth Championship in the United Arab Emirates from Nov. 27-Dec. 19. The much-sought-after Adu, who calls Potomac, Md., home, signed a six-year deal with MLS last week and is expected to play with hometown club D.C. United.
