U.S. Under-17 Men's National Team Beats Newcastle in Semifinals, Advances to Dallas Cup Final

DALLAS, Texas (April 18, 2003) – Freddy Adu scored a first half goal and the U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team defense held off an offensive attack despite being down a man for the entire second half to beat Newcastle United FC 1-0 in the semifinals of the Dallas Cup tonight at Lake Highlands Stadium in Dallas, Texas. The U.S. will try to become the first American team in the history of the Dallas Cup to win the U-19 Super Group since its inception in 1990, when they face Tigres (of Mexico) on Sunday at 7 p.m. at Lake Highlands Stadium. Tigres defeated CD Guadalajara 1-0 in the earlier semifinal tonight.
