Despite 1-0 Loss to Italy on a Stoppage Time Goal, Australia Finishes Second in 2002 Nike U.S. Women's Cup

(Wednesday, October 9, 2002) – Needing a two-goal win to finish in second place in the 2002 Nike U.S. Women’s Cup, the Italian Women’s National Team (1-2-0) came up a goal short in posting a 1-0 victory over Australia (1-2-0) tonight at SAS Park in Cary, N.C. After 90 minutes of scoreless, rough-and-tumble action, Italian midfielder Elisa Camporese snapped home a header at the top of the six-yard box in the first minute of stoppage time to grab the lead.
