July 15, 2002

Due to inflammation in her right knee, Carolina Courage defender Danielle Slaton will not join the U.S. Women's National Team when they arrive in Minneapolis tomorrow for a four-day training camp prior to facing Norway on July 21 at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn. (ESPN at Noon CT). Slaton, a 2000 Olympian, has been a consistent starter of late for head coach April Heinrich's squad and has 32 career caps. Filling her spot on the roster is popular Philadelphia Charge defender Heather Mitts, who has just two caps with the WNT.
