FORMAT
- All matches will be 90 minutes, with two 45-minute halves and a 15-minute interval for halftime.
- The tournament will use a group table as its format where the teams play one match against each other. Three points will be awarded for a win, one point for a draw and zero for a defeat.
TIEBREAKERS
Should two or more teams be equal in points after having played all their matches, their positions shall be decided by the following:
- goal difference in all matches;
- greatest number of goals scored in all matches.
If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above criteria, their rankings will be determined as follows:
- greatest number of points obtained in the matches between the teams concerned;
- goal difference resulting from the matches between the teams concerned;
- greater number of goals scored in the matches between the teams concerned;
- drawing of lots by the Nike International Friendlies Tournament Committee.
SUBSTITUTION RULES
- Teams will be allowed a maximum of six (6) player substitutions in the match (with no re-entry).
- In the second half, a team may only stop the game three (3) times to make substitutions. During each of these stoppages, a team may make more than one (1) substitution, up to the limit of six (6) total for the match.
PLAYERS
- Each team is allowed to participate with 20 players. A list of players containing the names, date of birth, clubs and positions shall be submitted to the U.S. Soccer Federation by Friday, November 12. Changes to a team roster after this date will be allowed with the proper notification to U.S. Soccer.
- The list of 11 starters and the eligible substitutes for each team must be presented to the team liaison at least three (3) hours before kickoff. Designated jersey numbers for each player must be set prior to the first game and remain the same throughout the tournament.
- For the 2010 Nike International Friendlies players must be born on or after January 1, 1994, and be age eligible to compete in the 2011 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in order to participate.
TROPHY AND AWARDS PRESENTATIONS
- A representative of U.S. Soccer will present the winner of the Nike International Friendlies with the championship trophy. Although competed internationally for eight years since 2003, this is the first Nike International Friendlies event being staged as a competition declaring a champion.
- The championship trophy will be awarded to representatives of the first place team following the final match on the final day of competition. However, should the Nike International Friendlies championship be clinched by one of the two participating teams in the first match on the final day of competition (following the conclusion of that game), the trophy will be presented at that time (in advance of the final tournament game).
- A participation award will be presented to each Participating Member Association.
