Overview

Referee development is a key component of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. All officials working Academy games are part of a highly selective training and assessment program. The Academy allows for talented referees in key markets to gain exposure to highly competitive matches on a regular basis and assists with the overall objectives of referee identification and development. Showcases serve as premier events for exposure to National Referee Assessors along with increased instruction and mentoring opportunities.

The U.S. Soccer Referee Department and the Development Academy are committed to maintaining the quality of officials involved in the program while continuing to develop young referees for future assignments. The Academy is also focused on expanding and strengthening the national referee pool through the challenging environment created by league games and event based educational initiatives.
