Under-20s: In 2012, Rodriguez posted three goals and an assist in seven games, making five starts. … Under-17s: A former member of the Residency Program, Rodriguez played a key role for the U-17s at the 2011 CONCACAF U-17 Championship, scoring a goal in overtime of the all-important semifinal win against El Salvador that clinched the USA’s berth to the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup. He played in four of five matches during U-17 World Cup qualifying and assisted a game-winning goal during the 3-1 victory against Cuba in the tournament opener.
Rodriguez joined German second division club 1. FC Kaiserslautern in July of 2012. He was part of the LA Galaxy youth system beforehand and had made a couple of appearances with the Galaxy’s MLS Reserve team, which would go on to win its first Western Division title.
