Hall Officiates Two Matches During 2002 Gold Cup

CHICAGO (Tuesday, February 5, 2002) - Brian Hall of Gilroy, Calif. officiated two first round matches at the 2002 CONCACAF Gold Cup last month. The 40-year-old, who will also officiate at the upcoming 2002 World Cup in Korea/Japan, refereed the Group C match between Costa Rica and Trinidad & Tobago that ended in a 1-1 draw on January 20. Hall, who has been a FIFA International Referee since 1992, officated his second game on January 23, a  Group D encounter that saw Ecuador blank Canada 2-0.  Both matches took place at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Fla.

Hall concluded his officiating assignments at the Gold Cup with the frist round matches, because the U.S. Men's National Team participated in the quarterfinals. The USA went on to capture its second Gold Cup Title with a 2-0 shutout over Costa Rica in the final on Feb. 2, at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.
