U-20s Draw 1-1 With San Jose Earthquakes

BRADENTON, Fla. (Monday, Feb. 14, 2005) - The U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team got a goal from Lee Nguyen in the 70th minute to secure a 1-1 draw with the San Jose Earthquakes this afternoon at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

After a scoreless first half, the Earthquakes took the lead five minutes into the second half (the match was only 80 minutes) when Chris Ronger beat U.S. 'keeper Andrew Kartunen. Nguyen was able to find the equalizer ten minutes from time on a rebound off the goalkeeper.

The U.S. will play three more games this week, taking on the USASA National Select Team (Feb. 16), U.S. Under-17 MNT (Feb. 17) and the Chicago Fire (Feb. 19).

U-20 MNT head coach Sigi Schmid did not call in any MLS players to allow them the chance to practice with their clubs in the preseason.
