U.S. Under-17 Men's National Team Tops Club Brugge in Belgium

BRUGGES, Belgium (July 14, 2007) -- The U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team topped Belgium’s Club Brugge, 3-1, as part of their 10-day tour of Belgium and Germany. After Club Brugge opened scoring in the 36th minute, Alex Nimo converted a penalty kick in the 43rd minute to even the score at 1-1 heading into halftime.

In the 75th minute, Abdusalam Ibrahim received a cross from Dane Shea in the middle of the field just outside the penalty area and shot past the goalkeeper on the left side. Just four minutes later, Jared Jeffrey dribbled up the center of the field and played a give and go with Ibrahim. Jeffrey collected the ball back at the edge of the penalty area and beat the Club Brugge goalkeeper for the final score of 2-1.

The U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team is currently on a tour of Belgium of Germany, and will play Germany on July 20 as part of their preparation for the upcoming FIFA Under-17 World Cup.
