RIO DE JANIERO, Brazil (July 24, 2007) – The U.S. Futsal National Team earned a point with a 3-3 tie vs. Ecuador in its second match of the 2007 Pan American Games.

Denison Cabral converted a penalty goal in the 38th minute to draw the U.S. even in the match and to secure a point for the U.S. With Argentina tying Costa Rica in the other Group B match on Tuesday, the U.S. still has a chance to finish in the top two of the group when they face Costa Rica on Wednesday.

For the second consecutive game, the U.S. gave up the first goal as Gabriel Ordonez scored for Ecuador in the fifth minute, but Don D’Ambra evened the score at 1-1 in the 12th minute. The U.S. took its first lead of the tournament in the 15th minute on a Matt Stewart goal, but that was short lived as Jorge Orellana struck in the 16th minute to level the score going into halftime.

The score remained tied at 2-2 until the 36th minute, when Carlos Galarza scored for Ecuador. Two minutes later Cabral would equalize for the U.S.

D’Ambra, one of the U.S. goal scorers, was shown a caution in his second-consecutive game and will have to sit out the group finale on Wednesday, July 25, vs. Costa Rica.
