U.S. U-17s vs. El Salvador - By the Numbers  
0 – Goals given up by El Salvador during their two games at home in the Union Centroamericana de Fútbol (UNCAF) Triangular 1 to qualify for the final round of CONCACAF Under-17 qualifying. El Salvador beat Guatemala 1-0 and Nicaragua 9-0.

1 – The U.S. is only country that has qualified for all 10 of the previous FIFA Under-17 World Championships.

3 – The number of teams already qualified for the 2005 FIFA Under-17 World Championship, all coming from from Asia – China, DPR Korea and Qatar.

4 – U.S. head coach John Hackworth is 4-0-0 in international play since taking over the Under-17s in November of 2004. Hackworth, who was the interim head coach until being hired as the full-time coach, has compiled an impressive overall record of 21-7-4 at the helm.

5 – Number of international shutouts U.S. first-choice goalkeeper Bryant Rueckner has recorded since joining Residency in the fall of 2003.

6 – Number of times the U.S. has played El Salvador in CONCACAF Under-17 qualifying, holding a 5-0-1 advantage against the Central American country. The U.S. has shutout El Salvador in three of those meetings.

7 – El Salvador is currently riding a seven-game unbeaten streak in CONCACAF qualifying.

8 – Number of international goals Preston Zimmerman has scored since joining U.S. Soccer’s Residency Program in April of 2004, the most of any player on the team.

13 – The U.S. has a 13 game unbeaten streak in CONCACAF qualifying. The last time the U.S. lost a match in the final round of CONCACAF qualifying was a 3-1 defeat against Mexico on Aug. 26, 1996.

14 – Number of assists recorded by central midfielder Kyle Nakazawa since 2004, the most on the squad.

16 – The number of goals Quavas Kirk, who is injured and unable to play for the U.S. in qualifying, has scored in 15 games since January, the month he was drafted by the LA Galaxy in the MLS SuperDraft.

20 – The number of internationals the U.S. Under-17s have played in this cycle since joining Residency in September of 2003. The U.S. is 7-8-5 in international play with the majority of those games coming in 2004 when the team went 6-6-5. In 2003, the U.S. fell to Brazil and Argentina by identical 1-0 margins. This year, the U.S. has only played one international, a 4-0 victory over Haiti on April 3 in Hailhea, Fla. 

23 – Midfielder Ryan Soroka has made 23 international starts for the U.S. Under-17s, the most of any player on the roster. 

24 – Number of goals the U.S. has scored against El Salvador in U-17 qualifying, averaging four goals a game. The U.S. has only allowed three goals against El Salvador.
