SUNRISE, Fla. (April 24, 2005) - The U.S. Under-17 ’88 Men’s National Team defeated Canada 2-0 on Sunday in Sunrise, Fla., increasing their unbeaten CONCACAF streak to 17 games.

The U.S. dominated play for most of the match, outshooting Canada 17-2. Forward David Arvizu opened the scoring with a goal in the sixth minute when he buried a cross from Ryan Soroka and Amaechi Igwe sealed the victory finishing off a pass from Michael Farfan.

The match served as preparation for Canada as they will attempt to join the U.S. by snagging a CONCACAF berth to the FIFA U-17 World Championship when they compete in the Group B CONCACAF qualifying tournament from May 17-21 in Mexico. The U.S. won Group A of the Under-17 CONCACAF qualifying tournament in Costa Rica two weeks ago and solidified their spot in the FIFA U-17 World Championship, which will take place in Peru from September 16-October 2.
