PORTE ALEGRE, Brazil (July 18, 2004) - The U.S. Under-17 Men's National Team battled Selecao Gaucho 3-3 in their final match of the four-team youth tournament in Brazil.
The U.S. fell behind in the 11th minute when Lacerda scored for Selecao, but Jeremy Hall pulled the U.S. even he finished off a pass from David Arvizu in the 23rd minute. The U.S. then took a two-goal lead as Kyle Nakazawa first buried a shot into the net in the 30th minute before setting up Preston Zimmerman in the 56th minute.
The U.S. was dominating the game, but were reduced to ten men in the 60th minute as Nikolas Besagno collected his second caution of the match. Selecao was able to take advantage, scoring two goals in the final eight minutes to pull even.
