Post-Match Quotes: United States 2, Honduras 1

GOLD CUP HOME | GAME STORY

U.S. Manager Bruce Arena
“It was a good win for our players. They played exceptionally well in the second half. Give Honduras credit. They capitalized on a mistake and produced a goal out of it. We weren't our best in the first 10 or 15 minutes of the game, but we played quite well after that. We knew at halftime the adjustments we had to make. We had planned to bring in Noonan and Dempsey, and I think they did a good job to help us. Obviously, they were great goals by John O'Brien and 'Gooch. Overall, it was a good win."

U.S. Defender Oguchi Onweyu
On the winning goal:
“We've been getting opportunities on free kicks and corner kicks all game, and I missed one barely in the first half, but we kept on knocking on the door. I think we were bound to get a good opportunity. I don't think anyone expected it to be in the last minute of the game, but thankfully it happened."

U.S. Midfielder John O’Brien
On the winning goal:
"We had been searching for a goal. We had a bunch of good chances. But it didn't quite happen. That goal took a lot of weight off. 'Gooch did a great job of finishing it off."

On his goal:
"I don't know who it was on their team that toe-poked it, but it came right at me and I just reacted with my left foot. I just tried to pass it in. I could just tell right away that it was heading right inside the net."
