U-17 '90s Defeat Region III 1989 2-1

AUSTIN, Texas (Nov. 27, 2005) - The U.S. Under-17 '90 Men's National Team secured a 2-1 victory over the older US Youth Soccer ODP Boys Region III 1989s 2-1 this afternoon in Austin, Texas.

The U.S. took the early lead when Danny Barerra buried a pass from Kirk Urso in the seventh minute.

Region III was able to pull even 10 minutes into the second half when Michael Canard was able to finish past U.S. goalkeeper Josh Lambo. After an initial shot by a Region III player was shanked at the top of the box, Canard was able to pounce on the loose ball in the box. Lambo came out to try and get to the ball, but Canard got there first to touch it past the 'keeper and slot it home into the open net.

Ellis McLoughlin notched the game-winner with a fantastic finish off a throw-in. Sheanon Williams threw the ball in from the right sideline and McLoughlin was able to head the ball over the outstretched hands of Joe Bendik to the back post.
