Taylor Replaces Lopez on Roster for U-20 Women's Qualifying

CARSON, Calif. (Jan. 11, 2006) - Defender Brittany Taylor has replaced defender Stephanie Lopez on the U.S. Under-20 Women's National Team roster that will enter the CONCACAF Final Qualifying Tournament later this month in Mexico for the 2006 FIFA U-20 Women's World Championship. Lopez, who made the senior National Team roster for the USA's upcoming Four Nations Tournament in China, was to have joined the U-20s after completing her tour of duty with the full team, but time away from school and the amount of travel neccessited the roster change. Lopez would have arrived right before the semifinals and been available for two matches, should the USA advance out of its group.

Taylor was the first alternate on the 20-player squad named by U.S. head coach Tim Schulz on Monday. As a forward, the speedy Taylor scored eight goals for the UConn Huskies during her freshman season last fall, seven of them game-winners.
