U-18 MNT Holds Second Camp of 2006 at IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla.

SUNRISE, Fla. (March 11, 2006) - The U.S. Under-18 Men's National Team took an early lead when Perica Marosevic finished off a feed from Michael Stephens in the 20th minute, but two tallies before the end of the first half provided the University of Connecticut with a 2-1 victory this afternoon at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

The U.S. and UConn played a full 90-minute match, plus an extra 30 minutes as almost every player in the U-18 camp got on the field in their final match of the week. Despite the loss, the U-18s finished with a 2-1-1 record during their weeklong camp in Bradenton.

On March 7, the U-18s defeated the U-17 ’89 MNT, 2-0, behind goals from Casey Townsend and Eber Martinez. Two days later, the U-18s played two matches, drawing 2-2 with the U-17 ’90 MNT as Michael Stephens assisted on both goals by Townsend and Martinez, and defeating IMG U-18, 1-0, behind a goal from Edgar Barajas.  The U-18s will next get together for the Slovakia Cup 2006 in late April.
