U-17 '89 MNT Fall to Wake Forest

BRADENTON, Fla. (March 24, 2006) - The U.S. Under-17 '89 Men's National Team fell 3-1 to Wake Forest University this afternoon at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

Wake took an early lead when former U-18 MNT midfielder Jamie Franks finished off a pass from Ryan Solle in the ninth minute. Fifteen minutes later, Lyle Adams put the Demon Deacons up by two goals when he slotted his shot past U.S. goalkeeper Larry Jackson.

The U.S. had their chances in the match, taking 10 shots - one less than Wake Forest - but only found the back of the net in the 35th minute. Adbus Ibrahim got free and blasted a shot past Davis Roach to temporarily cut the U.S. deficit to one goal.

Wells Thompson put the game out of reach in the second half when he buried a pass from Adams in the 75th minute.
