U.S. U-20 Women Complete Los Angeles Camp

The U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team notched five wins and a tie against local college teams, and one win over the U.S. U-21 Women’s National Team, while playing seven games in seven days during a training camp at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., from March 20-26.

Midfielder/forward Danesha Adams had five goals during the slew of games while forward Jessica Rostedt scored six times.

The week started with a 3-0 win over Long Beach State on March 20 as Adams scored twice and Rostedt once. On March 21, the U-20s split the squad to play two matches against a split-squad U.S. U-21 side, winning the first game, 3-1, as Adams scored twice and Yael Averbuch scored directly off a wind-blown corner kick.

The U-20s lost the second, 5-1, with 17-year-old Tobin Heath scoring the long goal for the younger side. On March 23, the U-20s defeated Pepperdine, 2-0, as Rostedt notched both goals. On March 24, the U-20s downed LMU, 3-1, as Averbuch, Brittany Taylor and Brittany Bock tallied.

The U-20s then played two matches on March 25, defeating San Diego State, 5-1, in the morning on two goals each from Adams and Taylor and one from Katie Larken, before tying USC in the afternoon, 2-2. Rostedt scored both goals against the Trojans, who got a tying goal seconds before the end of the match.

The U.S. U-20s will come together again from April 1-8 in Portland, Oregon, for five matches against college teams. U.S. head coach Tim Schulz put his team through the grueling match schedule as he continues to evaluate talent in preparation for choosing the 21-player roster that will compete in 2006 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Championship in Russia in August.
