Roma FC (USASA) at CD Chivas USA (MLS) University of Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara, Calif. Wednesday, July 12, 7:30 p.m. PT
Roma FC, the only remaining USASA team left in this year’s Open Cup, might have “shocked the Open Cup,” as Roma coach Michael Schell stated, with their 1-0 win over Miami FC on June 28th, but there are no plans for this Dallas based club to stop there. Certainly a win on the road verse an MLS squad would provide even more stir up in the Open Cup brackets. Their opponent, CD Chivas USA, is having a successful second year in America’s top league, sitting in the middle of the Western Conference. This Third Round Match might be a good time to see some new faces on the field and provide some rest for Chivas USA’s stars. If the game remains tight in the second half, look for Chivas USA’s ringers, Ante Razov (10 g. 6 a.) and Juan Pablo Garcia (5 g. 2 a.) to take over. But do not count out Roma FC, who has already toppled Miami FC’s Brazilian stars Romario and Zinho in the Second Round.
