Roma FC (USASA) at Los Angeles Galaxy (MLS)
Home Depot Center Track Stadium, Carson, Calif.
Tuesday, August 1, 7:30 p.m. PT

The Los Angeles Galaxy entered the 2006 season as both 2005 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup champions and 2005 MLS Cup Champions. With a star-studded roster, the Galaxy has relatively failed to live up to expectations so far this year. Starting the MLS season 2-10-2, Los Angeles has begun to regroup in an effort to defend both of their titles. The Galaxy is unbeaten in their last five games and seems to have put their dreadful start to the season behind them. MNT members Landon Donavon and Chris Albright’s return to their club side have helped L.A.’s recent success. Donavon, the team’s point leader, has already tallied four goals and four assists in only 11 appearances. The Dewar Cup holders seem to be clicking on all levels with confidence at a season high. Who else to come and spoil Donavon and company’s party then Open Cup giant-killer Roma FC. This amateur side has pulled off two remarkable Open Cup upsets against Miami FC and CD Chivas USA. Much of Roma FC’s success can be attributed to their team defense which has not let in a goal in over 210 cup minutes. All eyes will be fixed on this Fourth Round pairing to see if Roma’s Cinderella run can continue on to the Quarterfinals.
