BRADENTON, Fla. (Sept. 23, 2006) - The U.S. Under-17 '90 Men's National Team defeated Canada 1-0 this afternoon at IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla.
Defender Brandon Zimmerman headed home the game-winner in the 76th minute off a cross from Danny Barerra to provide the U.S. with their second victory over their northern neighbors in three days. The U.S. defeated Canada 2-1 on Friday (Sept. 21).
The goal was Zimmerman's first international strike with the U-17s.
The U.S. defense was outstanding as they did not allow Canada a single shot in the 90-minute match. On the other end, the U.S. peppered Canada's goal with 20 shots, but only four of which were on goal.
