U-17 MNT Fall to Newell's Old Boys
ROSARIO, Argentina (Oct. 23, 2006) - The U.S. Under-17 '90 Men's National Team fell to Newell's Old Boys, 4-1, this afternoon in their first match of the Copa Cuidad de Rosario.

In the other match of the four-team tournament that includes two international teams, Paraguay defeated Rosario Central 3-0. The U.S. will next face Rosario Central on Tuesday, Oct. 24 and then Paraguay on Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Newell's Old Boys took the early lead on an own goal in the eighth minute and added another seven minutes after halftime, but Ryan Finley pulled one back for the U.S. with a strike with 10 minutes remaining. Finley trapped a cross from Jose Altimorano inside the area and then hit a hard drive into the lower corner.

The U.S. went full-out on the attack in the final 10 minutes in hopes of scoring the equalizer, but it was the Old Boys that were able to find the back of the net with goals in the 81st and 90th minutes.

The U.S. actually outshot Newell's Old Boys, 18-8, throughout the match.
