Futsal Wins Two, Drops One vs. Brazilian Club Teams

JARAGUA DO SUL, Brazil (May 23, 2007) – Following a pair of 4-3 victories in their first two matches during an international training camp in Brazil, the U.S. Futsal National team fell to Malwee 6-0 on Tuesday, May 22, in Jaragua do Sul.

Seven different players scored the eight goals for head coach Keith Tozer’s squad, which turns around to face the Brazil National Futsal Team on May 24 and May 27. The last meeting between the U.S. and Brazil was an exiting 8-5 loss by the U.S. at the 2004 FIFA Futsal World Cup.

The U.S. departed on May 16 for their current trip, and two days later topped Balneario Futsal in Brusque, Brazil, by a 4-3 margin. The goals for the U.S. came from Ptah Myers, Jamar Beasley, Andrew Ducker and Enrique Tovar.

In the second match of the trip, the U.S. won by an identical 4-3 margin vs. Bento du Sol, also in Brusque. The U.S. goals came from Aaron Susi, Elvir Kafedzic, Tovar and Matthew Stewart.

Tozer's 16-player roster in Brazil includes players from both MISL and USL rosters, and several top players were not available due to outdoor commitments with USL clubs giving Tozer a chance to invite 13 upcapped players as the team continues preparation for the 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup.
