BRADENTON, Fla. (December 8, 2007) - The U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team defeated Brazil, 2-0, at the Development Academy Nike Friendlies in Bradenton, Fla., on Saturday, behind goals from midfielder Carlos Martinez and forward Stefan Jerome.

The U.S. will play their final international game of the Friendlies against Turkey on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET. Fans can see the match on same-day delay on Fox Soccer Channel at 8 p.m. ET.

Martinez’s well-taken goal, his second of the tournament, was assisted by Joseph-Michael Gyau. The midfielders combined in the 27th minute, with Gyau crossing for Martinez to flick the ball with his right foot past the helpless Brazilian goalie.

Jerome’s 80th minute strike came from the penalty spot, and all but ended the Brazilians’ attempts to get back into the game. The goal was Jerome’s second of the tournament as well, after both he and Martinez found themselves on the score sheet in Thursday’s 2-0 win over Russia.

Goalkeeper Earl Edwards contributed 10 saves to today’s winning effort, as Wilmer Cabrera’s young team staved off the Brazilians to earn the USA’s first ever win over the South Americans at the Nike Friendlies.

In one of three U-17/18 games on the day, Sockers FC used two early goals to pick up a 2-0 win over Arsenal. Sergio Realegeno took less than two minutes to get the Sockers on the board, and in the 21st minute, John Tyma made it 2-0.

In U-15/16 action, IMG Academy and Crossfire Premier battled back and forth, with IMG eventually coming out on top, 2-1. IMG’s Patrick Otte opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, but Kelyn Rowe pulled Crossfire even just five minutes later. Ariel Hugh’s goal in the 65th minute proved to be the game winner for IMG.

Carmel United and Colorado Rush exchanged goals throughout their morning game, eventually drawing, 2-2. Harrison Pelts put Carmel up in the 24th minute, giving them a halftime lead. In the 50th minute, Jake Meyer evened the score, but 13 minutes later Zach Foxhoven gave Carmel their second lead of the game. A 75th minute goal from Harrison Petts leveled the score again, and made the final 2-2.
