Development Academy Weekend Wrap-up (Jan. 30, 2008)
U-15/16 CASL Defeats VA Rush in Atlantic Coast Action
CHICAGO (Jan. 30, 2008) – The U-15/16 squad from CASL traveled to the Virginia Rush on Saturday, but showed no signs of fatigue, picking up a 3-0 victory in the Atlantic Conference match up.

CASL jumped on the board early, when Beau Burn received a ball in the corner from Tomascelli in the 12th minute. Burn was able to penetrate the Rush defense and give his team an early lead.

Just four minutes later, Charles Root got on the end of a through ball played by Jared Girard, sliding in behind the defense and finding himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Root made a move that beat the goalkeeper and doubled CASL’s lead. Minutes before halftime, Alex Martin made it 3-0 when he headed home a corner kick that deflected off of a Rush defender.

After a scoreless second half, CASL held on for the 3-0 final, and improved its record to 5-1. They will have the weekend of Feb. 2-3 off before hosting Ohio Elite and Columbus Crew on Feb. 9 and 10, respectively.
