July 10-11 Symposium Set for Chicago

CHICAGO (Wednesday, June 23, 2004) – U.S. Soccer will be conducting a Coaching Symposium on July 10 and 11 in conjunction with the U.S. Men’s National Team’s friendly match vs. Poland at Soldier Field in Chicago. The U.S. match will be followed by the Chicago Fire hosting the New England Revolution.

In addition to field and classroom sessions, the July 10 schedule is slated to allow attendees to watch the U.S. team’s closed training session at Soldier Field and will include U.S. manager Bruce Arena addressing the group. On match day, one of the U.S. Men’s National Team assistant coaches are scheduled to provide a scouting report for the group prior to the match at Soldier Field.

The symposium will be led by Region II U.S. National Staff Coach Roberto Lopez. The cost for members of the U.S. Soccer Coaching Organization will be $50 and for all others $60. Registration is open to all coaches, and “A” licensed coaches will receive one Continuing Education Unit (CEU) for attendance at the symposium.

The symposium will open on Saturday at 11 a.m. when the coaches will attend a Under-16 Boys game between the Chicago Magic and the Chicago Fire Juniors. After the match, a classroom session will be held to analyze the match with Lopez.
