Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup
USL Live to Carry U.S. Open Cup Games
Three USL-1 Hosted Matches to Air on USL Live Free

TAMPA, Fla. (June 11, 2007) – The United Soccer Leagues announced on Monday that its new broadband internet broadcast channel, in partnership with Turner Broadcasting’s Play On, will carry three Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup First Round matches Tuesday, June 12 on www.USLlive.com. The games mark the first time multiple national video broadcasts of First Round games in the history of the tournament. Fans can view the games at no charge.

In addition to the three host USL-1 teams, two USL Premier Development League teams will make their USL Live debuts in addition to one qualifier out of the USASA Regional Men’s Amateur Cups. The games that will be available Live and On Demand at USL Live will be:

Central Florida Kraze (PDL) at Charleston Battery (USL-1) – 7:30 pm ET
RWB Adria (USASA) at Carolina RailHawks (USL-1) – 7:30 pm ET
Long Island Rough Riders (PDL) at Rochester Rhinos (USL-1) – 7:35 pm ET

“We want to thank everyone at the U.S. Soccer Federation and Turner Broadcasting for their efforts in making these games available to American soccer fans,” said USL Executive VP and COO Tim Holt. “We truly believe that increased visibility of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at all stages of the tournament will greatly benefit the following and support for one of the greatest traditions of the sport around the globe that in turn is one of the most unique competitions of the American sports landscape. Giving fans of local amateur teams the ability to watch their team attempt to knock off a high level professional club is something we are proud to be a part of and we are grateful for the cooperation of all those involved.”

In last year’s tournament, three amateur teams defeated opponents from the USL First Division. The highlight was the Des Moines Menace, who defeated the Minnesota Thunder on the road to advance to the next round.
