U.S. National Teams: A tough, daring forward who isn’t afraid to battle for the ball against defenders … Great ball winner and capable to hold off defenders with his back to goal … Great finishing skills … Has broken his nose several times while playing with the U-17s … Was diagnosed with a rare heart disease that almost stopped him from playing, before having surgery to correct the problem when he was 14 … U.S. Under-20s: Called in for first U-20 camp in November in Sunrise, Fla. … Played in both U-20 matches during the camp, starting against Honduras and scoring the first goal in a 2-0 victory, and coming on as a reserve against Mexico … Under-17s: Solidified a starting spot on the squad after joining the team in early April of 2004 … One of the most impressive starts to a U-17 career, the forward scored five international goals in his first 11 games, good enough to lead the team …  2005: Tied for the team lead in appearances and starts with 33 … Second on the team with 14 overall goals … Scored a goal and notched three assists during the CONCACAF Qualifying Tournament … Scored the third goal in a 3-0 blanking of El Salvador … Assisted on the game-winning goal against Costa Rica, flicking the ball ahead for Omar Gonzalez … Started the team’s first international match of the year against Haiti, playing 89 minutes … Scored lone U.S. goal in 1-1 draw with Columbus Crew on Feb. 4 … 2004: Played in 29 games, starting 25 … Despite not joining the team until April, lead the team in goals scored with 13 overall and eight international strikes … Also notched three assist, all in international matches … Registered 1,345 international minutes, playing in all 17 matches … Was named the MVP of the Ballymena International Youth Tournament … Scored two goals in three games at the Copa Telefonica Tournament in Peru.
