HEREDIA, Costa Rica (April 16, 2005) - The U.S. Under-17 Men's National Team earned an automatic berth to the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship in Peru with a 2-1 win over Costa Rica. A first-half goal by Nikolas Besagno in the first half opened up the scoring. Omar Gonzalez added another goal in the second half, scoring his first international goal in his first international start. The U.S. is the only nation to qualify for all 11 FIFA World Championships disputed at the U-17 level. A full match report will be posted shortly.

In the other game of the night, El Salvador and Cuba played to a 2-2 draw.
